Not sure I like that…

Lately I have been seeing all these cute little quizzes pop up on Facebook.  What Disney princess are you? What novel are you? What decade are you? ect.  I can’t resist. I love taking these things! Of course they are far from scientific. But they have a way of making me smile or cringe in a way that I find entertaining.

So when “What kind of woman are you?” popped up on my feed today – I clicked away. It asked me questions like… how would I solve an injustice, where would I prefer to live, what kind of movie I prefer on a date night, and so on.  Here was my result:

The Fighter

You are a fighter at heart! You are a very passionate person, you have an opinion about everything and the eagerness to talk about what you think as often as you can. You love the feeling of fighting for a cause and accomplishing a change, and nothing can bend your will. No matter the odds or the pressure, nothing can stop you from fighting with all your power and might.

On it’s face value, it is pretty powerful stuff right? But as I read it again I began to see a little too much of me in that paragraph.  And I am not sure I like what I am relating to.

Todd’s response was, “sounds about right”. I am giving him a look right now – though he can’t see it as he is in Missouri.

Someone else got the title of “Go Getter” That sounds so much more pleasant than “Fighter”.  Perhaps I picked the wrong movie or dessert in my Q&A.  If I had chosen The Notebook and Chocolate Cake would I have gotten something sweeter?

Passionate

Opinionated

Nothing can bend your will.

Can we add loving, empathetic, loyal, and giving? Is my “Fighter” overshadowing the kinder nicer me?   I am clearly reading too much into this, but even I must admit – perhaps my “Fighter” needs a vacation to mellow out a little.

  1. I’d rather be a fighter than the person everyone steps on and kicks in the teeth, has no gumption or will to fight for anything at all. 🙂

  2. Balance is always the premiere status to achieve. Using your empathy to achieve forgiveness when repentance has been worked on vs continuing to fight and defend situations that become emotionally and spiritually exhausting as well as unjust. Balance … good goal.

  3. First off let me say you are welcome. This is not a fighter like the heavy weight champion saying “I’m gonna knock your block off”. Why do so many people thank our military for going into harm’s way to protect us or take down a brutal dictator. They are fighters. What about the people that go into burning buildings to fight for the lives of those inside. They are fighters. How about law enforcement officers that dedicate their lives to protect and defend. They are fighters. Consider the surgeon that stands over a patient for hours operating, all be it fighting for a better and longer life for that person. They are fighters. All of these people have compassion, sympathy, kindness and love for those they fight for. Do you want any of these people to have their will bent away from the vital task that they have before them? You are a fighter just like them, and many others, and for everyone of you there are 99 people that say “what can I do” instead of doing what needs to be done. You are a doer and a fighter in the best tradition of our Savior as he threw the money changers out of the temple. The Savior fights Satan everyday for us. Would anyone say that he does not have compassion, kindness, sympathy, mercy, or love unfeigned. You may need some R&R just like Heavenly Father and Christ rested on the 7th day, but come the preverbal Monday it is on.

    Love you
    Dad
