Ah yes. I remember… Sydney got an MRI. Guess what? She has a fractured growth plate in her ankle! After TWO MONTHS of PT and doctor xrays… and it was broken the whole time. Its funny because when we initially went into the pediatrician to have her examined he said that she had a light sprain and was sending her for an x-ray just incase, but he didn’t think they would find anything. Then he adds at the end… there is a rare possibility that she fractured her growth plate and that wouldn’t show up on a regular xray. But thats really rare so PT would be better for her. If it could happen, it happens to Syd.
She is in a boot and on crutches for the next 5 weeks (she has been on them a week already – 6 weeks total). Its hard, it makes her arms sore. But she is a trooper. Mostly I think she just enjoys rubbing in the fact that she was actually badly hurt and didn’t have a light sprain as we made her run on it for 2 meets earlier in the season before pulling her out completely when she wasn’t getting any better. There is nothing like an injured “I told you so” to make a mom feel bad.
I have a picture of her in her boot around here somewhere… I’ll have to hunt it down for you.
She is also auditioning for the school talent show today! SO EXCITING! We probably won’t find out till Monday if she made it, but I have no doubts she will. She pretty much rocks. Kinsey will also be singing in the talent show as she was asked back as last years winner to sing during judges deliberation. So we will be getting a two for one! YEAH!

I don’t think it is possible to love my grandchildren more than I already do,but I just realized it is possible…each one of them is so uniquely talented but i don’t love them for their talents I love them because they are LOVABLE!!!
I hope Syd will soon be out of that boot……she is most definitely a trooper!!!
Hunter also fractured his growth plate. We also didn’t find out until the “lame” excuse was getting old. I understand the “I told you so guilt” Hang in there! Recovery will happen, just slowly.
I’m excited about the talent show…Keep us posted about the whens…Hopefully we will be able to attend instead of enjoying through memorex which has its good points too in that I can watch it over and over again and share it with everyone I know until I can’t get the song out of my head and I drive myself crazy…I still can’t listen to Kinsey’s version of the little mermaid song……
🙁 Sad about the break, but 🙂 it was finally diagnosed so she can get better. I so hated seeing her in pain for so long.
To be honest I don’t even know what a growth plate is…it sounds like a fungus.
