Run baby run!

We can’t even tell you how happy and proud we are today!  Last night Camden Ele. held their annual cross country banquet.  Each child is honored for their accomplishments and given a medal in appreciation of their achievement.  Tatie received a gold medal for completing her second season of CC.  We are so proud of her.  This year she really just lit on fire.  She caught onto the vision of what running can be.

Its not easy for her, as you know.  Her body doesn’t sweat like it should so she gets overheated easily.  With her eczema she spends nearly every moment in the sun trying her hardest to distract herself from the constant itch that crawls under her skin.  And then there is the seasonal asthma which strikes in the fall making her wheeze and need an inhaler.  But when she expressed a desire to run just like her sisters last year we hesitantly said okay.  And watched as she blossomed.   She could run.  And run she did.

After the medals were given a few special awards were given out.  The first award given was “Most Improved Girl”.  As they read off the qualities of what a “Most Improved Runner” was Todd and I both thought…”You know…that’s Tatie.  She has improved so much this year.”  But then quickly dismissed the thought.  And that’s when they said her name!!!!!  Todd looked at me and said, “Did you know?”  and I said “NO!”  And we stood and clapped for our girl snapping pictures like crazy.

She was absolutely beaming!  She wouldn’t let me put it up on her awards shelf even.  She had to have it right next to her as she slept.  And then she even carried it down with her to breakfast this morning.   She worked so hard this year we are so proud of her!

One of the Dad’s of the team is an excellent photographer and made a team video of the season.  Tatie is in there a lot.  She is so awesome!!!!

  2. It’s all in the journey, Tatie, and your glow shows that you are enjoy the trip. I’m loving that confident smile, sparkle in the eye and spring in your step. Way to go, Tatie…so happy and proud of you. Love.

  3. In the last race at state I had never seen you run so strong. Powering up that last hill passing other runners. Even though the medal will just set on the shelf you will always know that you always have the ability to power up what ever hill is placed before you and conquer it.

    Love GrandPa
