One year ago Sydney was invited to go trick or treating with a friend. We dropped her off and decided that we would walk Tatie around the same neighborhood so we wouldn’t have to make another trip. The neighborhood was like a movie set. We couldn’t believe it. I had never seen anything like it in my life. The only word that could possibly have describe it was…Magic. There were hundreds of families dressed in costume walking the streets and handing out candy. It was picture perfect. After an hour of following Tatie running from house to house, Todd turned to me and said, “I want to live in this neighborhood.”
At the time I didn’t think that dream would ever have been possible. And yet here exactly one year later we celebrated our first Halloween as home owners in that very neighborhood! It was just as magical as that night a year ago. We set up with the fire pit in the driveway to keep warm through the evening. And took pictures of the girls before they headed out. We had so much fun. Todd’s parents even came over to enjoy the evening as well.
We bought way too much candy and gave everyone who was a pirate extra candy (because we are the pirate flag house). So even if you were dressed as something else but said you were a pirate you got extra candy. It was a blast.
The kids were exhausted by 8pm and saddled up around the fire to get warm. After running in the State Cross Country meet that morning (more on that later) they were just wiped out. We were even invited to a little block party after the festivities were over. All in all a wonderfully magic All Hallows Eve.
Todd and I even got into the spirit of the night by dressing as eachother’s worst nightmares.
The girls were given a budget of $20 each to put together a costume and they did a great job doing it! Meet our Cookie Monster Protester (protesting the cookie monster’s attempt to eat something other than cookies on Sesame Street this year – the meadal around her neck is her State medal she won. She refused to take it off all day! But can you blame her?). Our Masquerade ball attendee (who’s friend showed up in a surprise matching outfit), and our super stealthy Ninja Warrior.
