Shortly after we moved into the neighborhood the girls became all obsessed with a new toy that some kids down the street had. Not a day went by when they weren’t telling me how badly they wanted one. I myself had never even heard of the thing! Its called a RipStik. And they are one of the Hot Toys for Christmas ’09…so look for it on your kids Christmas list this year. When I first saw the thing I was like…oh its like a tricked out skate board (of which we have 2 already…via last years “Mom I must have one!”) So I was like…you already have skate boards and you never ride them. But alas the begging did not cease. I went to the store and checked it out and can you say sticker shock! These things cost a small fortune! $89!!! Times that by three and…well…you get the picture. There was no way! So I told them perhaps they could ask Santa for one. They moaned about that with Christmas being like FOREVER away and all.
Then I heard that Walmart had slashed the price to $59. After talking with the kids and them agreeing that they would share ONE verses each having their own I headed to Walmart to get their coveted toy. When I got there they only had the “RipStik G” in stock. And I wasn’t sure if that was the model that was on sale for the discounted offer so I asked and after 25 minutes of waiting till they found someone who knew what I was talking about the answer was no. And they didn’t even know when they would be getting the “regular RipStik” back in stock. (Gotta love Walmart *eyeroll*) Frustrated I left and decided to go to another walmart and see if they had any in stock. And you know what…They did! Not only that but this particular Walmart had the opposite RipStiks on sale so we ended up getting the RipSTik G for the sale price! Pretty Sweet!
The girls are absolute pros on it now. The thing scares me to death, but you see lots of Dad’s riding them around the neighborhood too. I should make Todd learn it. 😀
The RipStik really is fun. And believe it or not alot safer and more fun than a skateboard. Here are the pictures of their first ride.

Looks like lots of fun!
My sister asked me about what a RipStick was a while ago, I think Kinsey told her she wanted one in one of the mails. I was pretty much like you — a Rip-What? It looks very cool though! Not sure I’d dare try it, I never even handled regular skate boards, but it does seem awesome. 🙂
That thing looks very tricky. . . I don’t think I’d try it. Have you?
Gotta love WalMart! Kinsey—-no barefooting!
You are all very cute and excellent on the BOARD. Have fun! And you can use it in the basement when it is cold and shivery outside…something physical to do and sharpen your skills! SWEET!
