We spend a rainy fourth of July milling about the house relaxing. Todd and the kids ambushed me the night before and forced me to buy fireworks (though I refused to allow them to go across the river to get illegal ones…oh how they begged!). We BBQed steak and watched some movies and then Kinsey invited a friend over for the evenings festivities. Everyone in the neighborhood had told us that everyone sort of just takes their lawn chairs and sets up in the drive way and the street lights up. But we did not fully comprehend what that meant. It was AMAZING! The rain stopped for a brief 2 hours, just in time for the show. There were fireworks going of in every direction (a 360 display most of which were very illegal but beautiful). Kids were running up and down the streets with sparklers. It was magical, like we walked into a movie about perfect suburban summers. Kinsey even said it was the “BEST fourth of July EVER!” I love our neighborhood. I hope you had a wonderful holiday too!

Sounds like a lot of fun!
Good times! Good memories! Good friends and family. Who could ask for anything more. . .
Wow. Proper garden fireworks, like you can get here for Bonfire Night. I didn’t know that was possible in the US. You definitely live in a much better part of the country than the Commonwealth — I mean Nanny State — of Massachusetts! Sophy would be so envious…except that we’re now back in the UK, with a splendid box of fireworks in our garden shed waiting for the 5th of November….
