We have now lived in the house for a whole month. It has been an unbelievable adventure. From painting the whole house to making all the repairs that come from buying a neglected house. This is Todd and Kinsey learning how to install their first toilet seat.
Tatie had some fun playing in the mostly empty house when we were painting and trying to get it ready for move in.
It took every bit of two whole weeks to get everything painted. The most memorable evening was when Kinsey, Sydney and I stayed up until 2 in the morning painting our master bedroom. We played music and laughed to keep us away. It was wonderful. And Kinsey even surprised me at one point by climbing up the ladder and leaving me a surprise message on the vaulted ceiling wall!
For a while it seemed like everytime we got a big project done and were almost ready to move in something else would pop up and make us readjust our schedule. During our first week there we had a big thunderstorm (we seem to be having alot of those lately). When we went into the basement for shelter we made an unsettling discovery!
One quick phone call for help to Grandpa and we were saved. He arrived on his gallant steed (er…his station wagon) and he and Todd went to work on the problem. Which turned out to be an ill fitting deck board which wasn’t allowing water to drain and instead forcing it up under the siding.
We have battled an army (and I do mean army) of ants, battalions of spiders, waves of water, ancient rot, and buckets of paint. And what do we have to show for it? One amazing house.

Heh…and now the door really IS blue! What a lot of work you’ve all put in! Congratulations to you all.
New blog layout too…obviously it’s hard to stop once you get bitten by the redecorating bug! (*grin*). Nice design! I wonder, though, if you might think about making the comments font size a bit bigger — I’m having a little trouble seeing what I’m typing here! If I’ve written anything here that makes no sense, you’ll know why!
Thank you! I worked hard on the new layout. 😀 I will look into making it larger for you. LOL *goes to look at the code*
Totally lookin’ GREAT!!! Especially everyone’s happy faces with their new abode. Love.
Thanks to all your wonderful help!
