After two days of no electricity. I am ready for all of this weather business to be over and spring to arrive! After spending the day in the house without electricity – with Kinsey who had a stomach bug and enjoyed the distinct pleasure of barfing by candle light – we opted to abandon the house and camp out with Ruthanne last night, who fed us and provided hot water for the very dirty among us. Our lights are now on and I am back at home trying to get back into my Momma groove.
The kids headed off to school today – including Kinsey who would not have missed this “school Valentines day” had I tied her to a chair – all equipped with baggies of store bought Valenitines and heart shaped suckers attached. I had unfortunately forgotten that Sydney’s school does not allow the children to pass out food from home of any kind – candy included! So as she was passing out her valentines today a girl in class, shocked and excited over having received such a surprise treat in her bag – exclaimed, “YEAH! A SUCKER!!!” And that was the end of the treat, Sydney’s teacher then confiscated all the suckers and asked Sydney if she wanted to take them back home. Sydney replied, “yes”. Then collected the suckers and returned to her seat.
Anyone who knows ANYTHING about our dear Sydney knows this type of action does not sit well with her. She had given a gift, and who were “THEY” to tell her friends they couldn’t accept her lovingly given strawberry flavored heart shaped suckers! And so she spent the better part of her day stealthily hiding suckers up her poofy sweater sleeves and inconspicuously dropping them into classmates backpacks and valentines bags. All under the guise of either complimenting a classmate on their choice of backpack or asking to see a few valentines, or by simply shaking hands and leaving a treat behind. All very clever indeed!
So here’s to Sydney being smarter than most people I know! And to all of you having a lovely Valentines Day!!!
Now go get your husband. Have him stare and the picture below and say these words in his ear over and over again…
BUY ME DIAMONDS. BUY ME CHOCOLATE. BUY ME FLOWERS!
