Many of you know they added a new YW’s value: Virtue. On first hearing about this addition to the YW’s theme I thought, “Well, of course that should be in there. Why wasn’t it there before?” And then my friend Heka (*Hi Heka!*) who serves as second counselor in Young Women’s called and asked if I had any ideas on 10 hour value projects the girls could do to fulfill this new goal. And I understood the problem, it stumped me! I won’t say what I initially thought of because this is a family blog… But I will share with you the ideas I came up with after a little brainstorming. So if you have a young woman in your household or are serving in the YW organization, I figured I would share.
1) Volunteer on an Abstinence Campaign.
2) Organize a Father/Daughter Purity Ball.
3) Make a life plan. Examine the effects that immoral behavior can have on that plan. Discuss the plan with your parents and YW leader and get their input on how living a virtuous life can help you achieve your goals and how the pitfalls of immorality can change it. Present your findings at Personal progress night.
4) Create a blog entitled “Living a Virtuous Life”. Blog daily about the challenges you face as you strive to live a virtuous life. Encourage others to blog about their experiences as well.
5) Create an inspirational book of women who you feel have lived virtuous lives. Include pictures, small biographies, inspirational histories, and your own feelings on how each person has inspired you to live a Virtuous life.
6) Organize a Grandmother/Mother/Daughter discussion panel about virtue and its effects on the life of women and society.
7) Volunteer on an Anti-Pornography campaign.
8 ) Speak to your school guidance counselor and principal about your schools efforts to teach virtue. Develop a plan to improve these efforts and present the plan to your school counselor and principal.
9) Film an abstinence commercial and publish it to youtube.
10) Make a feature length film documentary interviewing friends, family, and strangers. Asking them to answer the following question: “What does it mean to be Virtuous?”. Have a YW’s movie night and share your movie.
Kinsey was rather fond of number 2, so I imagine that is what she will be tackling in the coming months. All in all I think its a wonderful addition to the Value list. Though I do have some issue with the color they chose…Gold? Where is the PINK ??? WE WANT PINK!!!!

Inspired my dear! You are truly creative. I’m impressed.
I too am surprised that it has taken so long to add Virtue to the list of Young Women values. Your ideas are wonderful! 🙂
