Math sure has changed alot since I was a kid. We slaved away doing time trials, memorizing facts, taking tests, passing notes. 😛 We hated math! But today math is all about getting the students excited to learn. In Pre-Algebra a few weeks ago Kinsey was tasked with doing a group project on Integers. She was grouped with 3 boys (much to her dismay because she said they were a bunch of goof offs). But she worked really hard and came up with a great project. The teacher was skeptical when Kinsey told her they were doing a skit because she said that she had never seen a math skit she thought was funny. And boy did Kinsey ever change her mind! When the video aired in class that day it was followed by the biggest laughs and cheers her teacher had ever heard! In fact she has refused to give Kinsey the DVD back and has since showed it to all of her other math classes. Great Job Kinsey! Needless to say…she got an A.

I have never been able to figure out why when you multiply a negative by a negative it becomes positive integer…That never happens in my check book. Oh well… Way to make those boys look useful and earn an A. Good going, Kinsey!!!
