Do you?
Tatie came home from school on Tuesday with news of a special surprise guest that visited her school that very afternoon. And who was that guest? It was none other than Obert Skye, the author of the Leven Thumps series! He spent an hour telling the kids all about the land of Foo and invited them to come out to his book signing that evening! Well even though Tatie hasn’t read these books yet she knows them well, because I read these books and LOVE them! They are a cross between Harry Potter and A Wrinkle in Time (two books series I love). Mix in some unexpected humor and you have Leven Thumps.
As Tatie told me all about his visit to her school I became very excited about the prospect of going to the book store and having, not only my three books signed, but getting the next book in the series a whole day early before the official release date! It was then I remembered…I had a previous appointment at the exact time of the signing (which was teaching the Young Women a song to sing for their YW in Excellence program in two weeks). Alas, the Lords work comes first. And then I had a brilliant idea, I called Todd and asked if he would take the very excited Tatie and Sydney to B&N and have my collection signed. And he AGREED!
So at 6:30 they headed off to the book store while Kinsey and I headed off to church. We met back at home one hour later when I was met at the door by some beaming little girls! Mr. Skye had been so wonderful to them during the signing. Todd described him as “a completely genuine and nice guy”. They each received 2 signed posters, a dream journal, a book mark, a pencil (all Leven Thumps themed of course), not to mention a taste of some of Clover’s special candy! Along with having all 4 (including the new one) of my books signed and personalized! And now the girls can’t wait to read the books! Here are some great pictures Todd took of the outing (the other little girl pictured is Tatie’s friend Sammy who tagged along for the signing and now wants to read the series too!).

Nicole, I happened across your blog from several other blogs I frequent. It is very fun seeing what people I used to know are up to. I am very excited about your post about the books because I am on the hunt for a new book today for Trenton. He just finished “The Invention of Hugo Cabret”, which he loved. I am heading to the library in a bit to pick up the first Leven Thumps.
