Happy Fourth of July one and all. We had a lovely Independence Day. The Morning started with our annual Ward pancake breakfast. I spent most of the hour and a half mixing batter while Todd spent it flipping cakes. The breakfast was a success, and ended with a YM vs. Old Men Basketball game. I don’t know who won, but I do know Todd spent the rest of the day complaining about not being able to move.
The girls and I came home where I prepared a CD for Todd. In celebration of the day, he requested a “America” CD. Here is what I put on it.
.
It’s great isn’t it! After the CD was burned and Todd was safely home and mostly intact I took a nap! There is nothing better then letting freedom ring, through a long summers nap.
At 4:00 pm we got dressed and ready for a barbeque down the street. When we arrived at 4:10 we were shocked to find no one was there. After we knocked on the door we found out why. The party was at 5pm, not 4pm. I handed off the salad I had brought to our hostess and hauled the family back home. The salad, as I remarked at the time, would be total mush by the time we ate. And it was. But the BBQ was lovely and the food was excellent. The girls got soaked in water games and Todd played a lively round of horse shoes. I believe his team won, but who can tell with horse shoes!
Then at 8pm we traveled down to Todd’s office to watch the fireworks. We had a quiet evening talking with the kids and laying on the marble floor to cool off…they turn the air off on the weekends and holidays. The fireworks were lovely and there was an amazing lightning storm mixed in. With little to no traffic all the way home, we arrived in record time. The kids fell fast asleep exhausted from a wonderful fun filled day.
