Dr. H determined that Kinsey was dehydrated and ordered a 23 hour hospitalization for her to get IV fluids. As for Sydney and Tatie, they were ordered lots of rest, Tylenol, and medication for Sydney’s ear ache. I sent the girls home with Todd and Rushed Kinsey to the hospital were we were treated wonderfully by the staff waiting for us.
She was placed on the IV at noon on Thursday. After a few hours the doctor was sure she would be a happy girl again. But as the day and night progressed on and Kinsey temperature soared to 104.9 twice, it became clear she was not getting better. After a series of testes some of which included x-rays. Kinsey was diagnosed with the following:
Flu
Roto Virus
Pneumonia
Bladder Infection
She was so weak. Over the next 5 days they pumped her full of fluids and medications. Placed her in a hospital room of 60 degrees to help keep the fever down. And tried to tempt her with any food we could find. you name it…ice cream, brownies, cake, mashed potatoes…Chocolate Milk finally did the trick late Sunday night. But it wasn’t enough to release her. so we send Monday playing “Stuff The Kinsey” as best we could. We got 5 carrot sticks, mashpotatoes, and a half dozen cartons of chocolate milk down her. By this morning she was dramatically improved, in energy and color. And we were released.
Our Doctor believes the Pneumonia to have been caused not by the flu as originally suspected. But instead believes that sometime during the vomiting, Kinsey aspirated, and this caused the infection in her lungs. She has been told to stay home from school for the rest of the week, drink a ton of fluids, and rest. Which she is doing right now on the couch.
I want to thank you all for your kind prayers. We felt each of you with us while we were in the hospital. Kinsey has a follow-up appointment scheduled for this Friday. we will let you know how it goes.

Kinsey, be smart now and treat yourself very well so you can get strong and back to your healthy self. You are so loved, little one. Rest, drink your fluids (chocolate milk) and eat healthy foods, rest, and smile a lot. Your spirit needs lifting too, so read good books and laugh with your mom, dad and sisters and call your best friend on the phone. Did I mention rest? Love, Grandma
