Sydney just got home from her school trip to KUNA (Kentucky United Nations Association).  Its a really great program where middle schoolers and high schoolers all over the state spend months researching an assigned country and then meet together for a 3 day conference to show off what they learned and pretend to be at the actual UN. Its adorable!  Sydney’s little group was assigned Thailand.  As apart of the festivities they spend an evening in the traditional costume of their assigned country.  After weeks of hunting I gave up trying to find a costume online for Sydney.  There was just nothing under $150.  I ended up finding a video on youtube about how to wrap a traditional Thai skirt.  That was enough for me, so I ventured to the fabric store and made her a costume.  It turned out pretty awesome we thought!  Here she is trying it on after I finished sewing it.

And here are Todd and Kinsey demonstrating just how offensive some of the costume interpretations would be to the people of some of the countries represented at the conference. Lets just be glad they weren’t there to see it (Viking hats?  Really Norway reps?)
