Many of you have often heard me joke that Sydney was born a lawyer.  And there isn’t a day that goes by that she doesn’t exercise that gift for persuasion and debate.  But in that same joke I often say…Sydney will be in the court room defending a large corporation against environmental enthusiasts.  While at the exact same time Tatie will be outside picketing the court room with a large sign that reads “Save the Whales”.  I didn’t make them this way.  They were born this way. 

And just as every day of her life Sydney proves me more and more right.  Tatie does too.  Last week Tatie came home from school with an announcement to make.  Her announcement?

“I’m a Vegetarian!”

That’s right, you heard it here first.  My baby girl.  The only child of mine to EVER eat red meat, and like it, has pronounced herself a vegetarian!  And why you may ask?  The obvious, of course.  It hurts animals.  (Bring on the picket signs.) 

We support her decision.  There is nothing wrong with her wishing to abstain from meat.  But the rule from Dad is:

“She can be a vegetarian as long as she doesn’t yell at me for enjoying the tasty cow.”

So for dinner this past week I have been testing the waters.  Last Saturday we had pizza.  Tatie usually adores pepperoni pizza.  But instead she stuck with the cheese.  I thought, well that’s not such a sacrifice, a little pepperoni, she still got pizza.  And so I decided to make hot dogs for dinner tonight (with a side of mac and cheese, one of Tatie’s favorites).  Guess what?  She turned the tasty bun-length-ball-park-hot-dog down flat.  And so there you have it folks.  Tatie is attempting at the tender age of 7 to abstain from meat.  Now I assume that she will fall off the meat wagon occasionally.  But I am proud of her.  She has made a big decision (her very first) and she is trying to stick to it. 

Lets hear it for our little Vegan!
