This year marks the end of Sydney’s Elementary school education. She is growin’ up! At her school they have a Fifth Grade Awards Night that is followed the next day by the Fifth grade field day. We were in the middle of our move to the new house during this last week of school so things were a bit hectic. But I made sure to make a run to the florist to get our sweetheart a wrist corsage for the occasion. She looked beautiful. As they called her name her teacher announced that Sydney had maintained the all A honor roll all year long. YEAH SYDNEY! She also competed in Cross Country finishing in the top 5 of her team, co-anchored the school TV news program (she also named the news program Tiger Beat and gave it it’s theme song…way to leave your mark girl!), she was an elected member of the Student Council , member of the choir, and the chess club. Not to mention single handedly turned the tide on the boys of the 5th grade honors group when they were assigned the task of portraying typical revolutionary lives. The boys in the group teased the girls saying that they would have to cook and clean for them. Sydney was so infuriated by their comments that she came home and learned all she could about revolutionary feminism. Then took that information back to school and rallied all the girls to become Suffragettes! Its was amazing and they stole the show (presentation).
I couldn’t be more proud of her. Congratulations Sydney! Its time to go conquer the middle school!
I spent the afternoon of her 5th grade field day making snow cones for the lot of them. This is Sydney enjoying the shade and her friends on their last day of school.

Yippee, you are now in middle school. I remember a lot of good times from my middle school years. Make the best of it and I’m sure you will since it sounds like you made the best of your elementary school time. Enjoy your summer before you have to get back to work in the fall.
Congratulations Sydney. You are terrific. You are going to bring great things to this world. I am very proud to be your Grandpa.
Awesomely done, Sydney, especially standing up for women’s role in the development and growth of this country. There is a reason they say “The hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world.” You came, you saw, and you conquered… Keep that proactive spirit and motivation and I concur with Grandpa, you will bring great things to this world. Very proud of you. Love, Grandma
