Another Snow Day

We had yet another snow day today and it looks like the kids will be out tomorrow as well with more snow on the way.  We have had an eventful two days though.  The kids have played outside, cleaned their rooms, Sydney has been chief chef, and Kinsey sunk so low as to alphabetize the DVDs!   Todd has been working from home today as well.  So we have a house full!  I made it to the library yesterday just before the snow storm moved into town and was able to grab a few movies and books to keep us occupied.

Tatie made a wonderful discovery last night!  She found a Hawaii State quarter among daddy’s change.  In case you don’t have children and don’t understand the significance of finding such a quarter.  It is because Hawaii is the very last slot on our state quarters book.  We completed our 10 year project which began when Kinsey was only 3 and before Tatie was even born!  The book itself has survived 4 moves.  The inside of the book is held together with scotch tape and the booklet explaining little details about each state was lost about 3 moves ago.  But we made it.  Its now complete.

Tatie cradled the finished product in her hands and said, “This is so cool!  I bet its worth millions!”

To which daddy replied, “About $12.50 actually.”

To which Tatie replied, “Wow, that’s a lot of money!”

Its all in the journey.

We wanted to send our love out to Don (Julie’s Dad).  Rest well and get better soon!

  1. I think that must be the snowstorm we’re getting tomorrow…. S is really hoping for a snowday too.

Major congratulations about Hawaii! We know all about this — S has been collecting since she was little too. We’re not quite finished yet, though she says she found Hawaii too the other day. “It’s in my coat pocket, mom.” I’m pretty sure that means we have now LOST Hawaii, but another one is bound turn up pretty soon….

  2. ME, TOO!!! Only mine is in my buffalo bank, but it is all 50…WOOO-HOOO!!! If you find a New Mexico or another Hawaii, Great Grandpa is in need. He looked so sad when he said he didn’t have them. Let’s put a smile on his face! What say ye?

  3. Congrats on finding Hawaii! 😀 That’s pretty funny, my sister (and I… Ssshhh!) collect them too and I think she’s (we’re) getting close to finishing as well! It only started in ’05 when I went to Texas so it hasn’t been quite as long, but it’s been fun nonetheless. 🙂

Enjoy the snow while it lasts! 😀

  4. Nice job. When they first started making those quarters I thought about trying to collect them all, but needed some change really badly and ended up using my tiny collection. How fun that you stuck with it for 10 long years and finally finished! 🙂
