Sydney is now the proud owner of a “quad-flex”. This wirery contraption is the patented invention of her very own orthodontist Dr. Haskell. She will be enduring the discomfort of a metal soft pallet for the next six months. This will widen her upper jaw and allow the adult teeth, that have not come in yet, the room to do so.
She was a very brave girl. The day after it was put in, she could barely move her mouth. It was all pudding and Jell-O for three days. It took well over a week to adjust to speaking properly with the metal impeding her tongue. Her tongue became very sore.
For the next six months its…no gum…nothing sticky…nothing chewy. So keep that in mind when it comes to your Easter shopping. And next time you see her, giver her a big hug and tell her you think she’s a very brave girl.

I must have missed something. We had to get syndey a device so she could have a bigger mouth !!!!!!!!!! What’s next? A little something to increase the attitude. 🙂 Remember sydney, Papa’s mouth has probaily got me into more trouble than it got me out of.
Much Love,
papa
Oh Sydney! I so know the pain and discomfort you are going through! I had braces and many other things put in my mouth too! Take advantage of it and go for the ice cream!

In my opinion there is no one that is braver than you.Right now you are feeling very sick with a fever and I so much want to make it go away.If I loved you more I couldnt stand it
Love Gram
I hope you are handling the device much better than I would!! You are beautiful now, I love your mouth with or without braces. I hope you are feeling much better. Your Mom told me you were really sick with the flu. Drink lots and lots of liquids. If you start to feel worse, maybe the Dr. can give you something to make it better!! I love you.
