Sydney had to go have an MRI on her ankle. It is just not been improving since the sprain 2 months ago. We find out the results on Tuesday (election day). We are hoping very much that there is nothing wrong and she just needs more time to heal. She does have this mondo ankle brace now. Its crazy big. But it helps.
I was able to snap a picture of her as she was going into the big machine. She was so cute, they give you headphones to listen to music because the machine is so loud and about 5 minutes after they started the technician comes out and says, “She keeps tapping her foot to the music. We need her to hold still.” hahahaha I just love her. They got her foot packed better so she couldn’t move it anymore.
She has been having so many doc appointments lately that when I took her back to school after the MRI the office staff made a point to mention to me how many absences she has had. 7.5 to be exact. So when they asked about a doctors note on Thursday after the MRI I said, I forgot to get one, but she is wearing a freaking hospital bracelet with todays date on it! … they didn’t seem to think that counted. Oy.
*soapbox moment* I could seriously care less how many days my children miss in school. I mean I really do NOT care one bit. As long as they are making their all A’s I really don’t care how often they miss. Its not like they are skipping school or anything. There are illnesses and doctor appointments and enrichment trips. And if I am taking my kid to the doctor, the last thing on my mind is making sure that the school office staff feels good about why my child wasn’t at school today.
Did I ever tell you about the letter I got from the middle school Kinsey was registered to go to before we moved to Crestwood? It was a total ghetto school, and well in the midst of packing to move here we got a letter from them. The letter was letting us know that they knew Kinsey had been absent 35 days in her 5th grade year and that at their school they don’t tolerate such truancy. Well you all remember WHY Kinsey was absent so much her 5th grade year! Lets review…mono, chicken pox, strep throat (TWICE), Broken arm, and the big one… the week in the hospital for the bladder infection/pneumonia/roto virus/flu she had all at the same time! That is a lot to deal with for one school year, the poor thing. You can only imagine the phone call I gave their attendance officer. It was not pretty.
So as you can see, if I decide to keep my child home from school… I DECIDE TO KEEP MY CHILD HOME PERIOD. I’M THE MOMMA! schools drive me batty some days.
On a more accademic note, Sydney has inducted into the BETA club on Friday. She is so awesome. Smart and pretty…boy are we in trouble.

I agree with you about the schools and their biniskey attitude about family life and decisions…go NICOLE. Wish I had been a fly on the wall for that phone conversation…. And again, totally agree our Sydney has it all: brains, beautiful, personality, talents, abilities and a loving heart. She’s all that a a box of chocolates too.
